Saleem Movie Reviews From CineGoer.com: Good days ahead for budding writers of Tollywood. Forget if your film runs or not, atleast you can be assured of finding a producer who’s willing to spend this kind of budget for a plot that even a fourth standard student who’s used to watching Telugu films can write with conviction and confidence.
It’s about a headstrong girl who grows up in Europe and has scant respect for her parents who kept her away for fear of a family feud that could threaten her life. The heroine who’s on a visit to India cannot adjust to the life and uses the hero, pretends love to get out of an uneasy situation. The hero follows her to Europe and finds her getting engaged to a mafia don’s brother. He doesn’t give up, makes her fall for him and returns to India to solve the feud the heroine’s family is involved in. Finally you have the don going through a change of heart and expressing his willingness to advise his brother to backtrack from his relation with the heroine.
The first half of the film will not get into your head, it’s designed to create a suspense. You get to see the premise and structure only in the second half but that is of no use either as the hour-glass beauty Ileana dilutes the story by showing of her body with boring clothes, helps the film flounder, digress and to her aid comes another heroine Kaveri Jha who boosts the ego of the real life hero’s father.
YVS tries to make him another Seetaiah but alas he becomes another dharina poye dannayya, a magic can be created only once! The Mohan Babu-Kaveri Jha song is another crazy creation, you feel sorry for Mohan Babu for being trapped in such a corny effort. While the son is under pressure to become a star or may be to step into his dad’s shoes too fast, the father makes a mockery of his character. You don’t know finally why Vishnu is Munna or why he is called Saleem.
There are quite a few songs, Kaveri romances Mohan Babu, Ileana’s name is Satya, so Satya’s hormones work overtime, she is forever shown that she is blessed with only a good figure that is put to maximum use. The film has nothing to offer, it’s loaded with mediocre performances and lackluster screenplay and dialogues.
Lot of effort seems to have gone into Vishnu’s clothes and the difference is seen. Camera work needs to be applauded, a couple of songs are good to listen to, but on screen you don’t find anything new as Ileana is shown as falling over in every song. With more concentration on the script, dialogues, the film could have ended as an average subject but this one is a laborious watch.
