Full Movie Review Director Deepak Shivdasani who had focused his films on prostitute has once again come up with the same kind of subject. Yes, we are talking about 'Julie', starring Neha Dhupia, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Sanjay Kapoor, and others. N.R.Pachisia has produced the movie under the banner of V.R.Entertainers Pvt Ltd. The movie is about a girl, who shows how society turns this girl into a prostitute and how the people react when some one wants to marry her. Audiences who want to see bold scenes would definitely enjoy the movie. Neha is trying to capture the position of Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat and other actresses who are in great demand because of enacting hot scenes. 'Julie' is the story of an ordinary Goa girl (Julie) who dreams about her married life. She doesn't want her husband to be a millionaire. In Goa, she has a boyfriend who is very short-tempered and wants to become a millionaire even before marriage by hook or by crook. Julie is deeply in love with him. However, one day they break all the limits and make a mistake. After few days she comes to know that her fiancee is marrying with another girl.
click for larger view Julie leaves Goa with a broken heart and moves to Mumbai. There too her office colleague (Sanjay Kapoor), who is working as a designer with her, breaks her heart. At this juncture, the movie takes a turn and Julie becomes a high-class prostitute. Mihir Shandilya (Priyanshu Chatterjee), is a very successful businessman and a bachelor. At a very young age he becomes an icon of the new-age India. Mihir meets with Julie several times, and finds his wonder girl in her. A television channel interviewed him and talks about his personal life. On being questioned about his life partner Mihir confesses that there is a wonder girl in his life to whom he wants to propose. On the other hand, Julie is unnerved by the TV program and talks about herself to the viewers. The reason is simple. She wants to confess that she is a prostitute by profession, a fact that Mihir and his family members are unaware of. Mihir, who is abroad rushes back to the show and proposes to Julie. He requests her to stand next to him as his wife. Thus Julie finds her true love that is willing to stand by her under all circumstances.

On account of her performance Neha Dhupia has failed to act as a serious girl. Her body exposure may attract a particular type of audience. But the audience that wants to watch the movie with the family at the weekend is concerned it would like to avoid 'Julie'. Priyanshu Chatterjee who plays the character of Mihir Shandilya has definitely attracted the critics' attention though he is seen only once in the first half of the film. However, he reappears after the interval to win Julie. Sanjay Kapoor's performance is also good and shows a good rapo between him and Julie.

The subject matter of the movie as shown by director Deepak is good but indigestible to the audience. Deepak thinks that he will hit his movie by showing naked scenes of his heroine. But he faces disappointment only. Maybe he is successful in attracting a section of the viewers. Next time Deepak needs to concentrate on the script and try to write a script that is easily digestible to the audience.
The music side is also not very supportive. Himesh Reshammmiya fails to attract the audiences to the film. On the whole, 'Julie' is an average film and may attract the audience in the metros in the first week.

Movie - News Just before the beginning of ‘Pitru Paksha’ the small time actor and financier M Chandru has launched his maiden Kannada film production ‘Swayamvara’ starring ‘Savari’ fame Srinagara Kitty ‘Sajani’ fame Sharmila Mandre and popular actor Diganth in the lead roles.
‘Swayamvara’ title is once again picked for Kannada film. It was in 1973 Dr.Rajakumar and Bharathi starring film had the similar title film directed by YR Swamy.
The noteworthy aspect of this film is that five directors – Prem, Yogaraj Bhat, Nagendra Prasad, Tushar Ranganath and AP Arjun have penned a song each. Manikanth Khadri is the music director and HC Venu is the cameraman. The shooting will be held in Bangalore and Mysore. Two songs will be shot in abroad. It has the shades from ‘Meet My Father’ and ‘Mujse Shadi Karoge’.
‘Swayamvara’ is about two friends aiming for one girl. This has good comedy and there is lot of fun too said Srinagara Kitty. The 3D IMAX experience of Hubble 3D is the first time I have ever felt 3D was used in such a way that it benefit the final product. The sheer size of a true IMAX film frame makes those wimpy traditional films cower in comparison. The use of IMAX as a selling point for regular films is a joke as they don't make full use of the screen, proving 3D is merely a gimmick until you've seen it on a screen five stories high and 72 feet wide. Yes, it makes a difference. I think we all remember the opening sequence of The Dark Knight. When a movie is filmed in IMAX it just doesn't compare.As for Hubble 3D, it lived up to my every expectation and then some. We've all taken notice of Orion's belt, but it's when Hubble 3D takes you deeper into the star clusters of the Orion Nebula and into a field of gaseous clouds to find a star nursery that we begin to realize the treat we're in for. Not only does this film get us to these locations the 3D allows us to navigate in and around them. The true wonder is to look at an image that appears to be the utmost of clarity only to still realize it's a mere fraction of its true size. It's nothing short of astonishing.
You'll travel throughout the known universe at millions of miles per second, exploring galaxies more than two and a half million light years away. But along with all of that we are taken onboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis as a crew of astronauts head into space to make needed repairs to the telescope providing us with these phenomenal images.
The towering size of the IMAX screen, combined with the 3D technology almost makes it appear as if the screen is just an extension of the theater. It's a comparison traditional theaters cannot replicate as our eyes focus in on the middle of the screen as the top and bottom disappear into the ceiling and the floor below.
Cameras take us underwater in the world’s largest indoor pool at NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL) and into the prep room as the astronauts climb into their gear in preparation for the trip to the stars and it's almost as if we are in the room with them. The theater rumbles as the launch of the Shuttle is presented in close-up IMAX 3D and using "sacrificial microphones" that were fried in the attempt to bring you the sound of the solid rocket boosters.
Leonardo DiCaprio narrates the short feature directed by Toni Myers with all of the space sequences shot by the astronauts themselves using the IMAX camera in space. As much as studios look to cheat audiences out of true IMAX and true 3D experiences by merely showing a traditional film on IMAX screens or converting 2D films to 3D, you can rest assured this is an authentic IMAX 3D feature. The only footage not shot using the 700-pound IMAX cameras were interviews and personal interaction inside the flight deck. Everything else was shot in IMAX was and it shows.

It's an achy, sickening feeling sure to be shared by most moviegoers who spend their hard-earned cash on this comatose, exceedingly unfunny caper. More remarkable for the glistening sex appeal of the leading actors than anything found in the excruciatingly labored script, "Bounty Hunter" is an empty calorie, brain dead waste of time.
A journalist with a hot tip involving a mysterious suicide, Nicole (Jennifer Aniston) is racing to find a witness who can unlock the whole case. Unfortunately, to meet her snitch, Nicole skips out on a court appearance for a frivolous arrest. Now with a warrant out for her arrest, a local bail bondsmen (Jeff Garlin) calls in Milo (Gerard Butler), a bounty hunter up to his ears in gambling debts, to catch Nicole, knowing full well the two were once married and are now bitterly divorced. Catching up to Nicole in Atlantic City, Milo prepares his prize for return, only to find a legion of gangsters and troublemakers (including Peter Greene, Jason Sudeikis, and Cathy Moriarty) standing in the way. Now on the run, the couple finds time to reassess their failed marriage, with hope for a reconciliation looming on the distant horizon.
"Bounty Hunter" is something approximating an action comedy, but handing those ingredients to director Andy Tennant is like asking McDonalds to whip up a glorious steak dinner. Tennant is a company man with little patience for the art of cinematic personality, coming to the film after a run of hits including "Hitch," "Fool's Gold," and "Sweet Home Alabama." He's room temperature skim milk when the genre demands a shot of Jagermeister, and Tennant's meager touch with adventure and chemistry constantly derails whatever minimal amount of interest "Bounty Hunter" manages to uncover during its unbearably overlong 105 minute running time.
Perhaps the greatest foes to the picture are Aniston and Butler, who share sibling chemistry, not the scorching sexy type that weakens knees and tightens pants. Nicole and Milo spend a majority of their screen time bickering as any divorced couple would in the situation, but the banal script by Sarah Thorp fails to layer in any reason to give a damn about this foolish, clueless pair. Their banter is simplistic, lacking wit and vitality, and the acting appears more drowsy than enchantingly energized by the whole on-the-run elements of the tale. Butler and Aniston resemble a pair of polished bronzed statues (kudos to cinematographer Oliver Bokelberg), but the talent has little to work with while trapped in trunks and chained to doors and headboards. Instead they clomp around spewing insipid dialogue, stagger through anemic action beats, and face a frosted sense of personal interaction the feature needs to work in order to make the second half of the film (where the couple learns there's still fire down below for each other) make any sort of sense.
"Bounty Hunter" wants viewers to root for Nicole and Milo, to cheer for their resuscitated feelings while peeling around New Jersey dodging bullets, golf balls, and tasers; unfortunately, the alleged love story never stands fully erect. The script doesn't help matters by conjuring a complex-for-the-genre cat's cradle of bad guys and evil schemes, which getin the way of the googly eyes. Tennant actually abandons the plot by the end of the movie, closing with a blink-and-you'll-miss-it showdown intended to pay off the interminable build-up. I can't blame the director for showing little interest in his own picture.
Pretty people have pretty problems in "The Bounty Hunter," but as a viable source for thrills and swoon? There's no pulse here to effectively heat up the big screen.

Bollywood Movie Review Love Sex Aur Dhokha is not the archetypal/mundane/formulaic stuff that one has grown watching. Love Sex Aur Dhokha is not for the faint-hearted. Love Sex Aur Dhokha is not for the orthodox/conformists/moral watchdogs of society.First things first! It's not another version of Steven Soderbergh's SEX, LIES, & VIDEOTAPE [1989], as widely rumoured. Now let me hit the nail on the head. Don't expect the expected from Dibakar Banerjee. Love Sex Aur Dhokha, helmed by thedirector of Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, is a complete departure from what we have witnessed so far. It talks of voyeurism [it has been divided into three stories, each focussing on different plots pertaining to voyeurism]. It is brave. It is scandalous. Most importantly, it is path-breaking. You will either love it or loathe it.Love Sex Aur Dhokha is not an easy film to comprehend either. The constant shaking of camera [it's a digital film with a hidden camera playing a character by itself] may bother you initially, since this is the first time that a storyteller has used this technique in Bollywood to narrate three different stories in one film. But the material is so compelling [screenplay: Dibakar Banerjee and Kanu Behl] and the stories so captivating that you absorb this storytelling technique within a few minutes of its commencement.Dibakar makes an attempt to tell you that there's no privacy in today's age, courtesy cell phones, spy cams, sting operations and MMS. Technology is not just a boon, but also a bane and the film reiterates this fact.
Final word? Love Sex Aur Dhokha signifies the changing face of Hindi cinema. Ekta Kapoor's first foray into experimental cinema has all it takes to be a cult film that might just trigger off a new trend in Bollywood. It's courageous, disturbing and yet entertaining!Story I: In a film institute in North India, a student gears up for his diploma film. With an amateur small-town cast, Rahul starts filming a love story and eventually falls in love with his heroine Shruti. They elope, get married and dream of a blissful future.Story II: Adarsh installs security cameras in a small, upcoming 24-hour department store. In desperate need of cash to clear off his debts, Adarsh hits upon the idea of making a porn clip through the security cameras in the shop. The victim? Rashmi, who works in the store.Story III: Prabhat -- a sting journalist -- attempts a series of failed suicides. He meets Naina, who is also trying to commit suicide. She had been promised a music video by Loki Local, a Hip Hop pop star. She slept with him for the same, but the video finally went to a Russian blonde. Prabhat and Naina decide to do a sting operation.
The first story starts off as a spoof on Bollywood, but you gradually realize that it bears an uncanny resemblance to at least two real-life love stories, which have had a heart-rending ending and which continue to remain in news to this date.The second story -- the MMS scandal -- is scary. Just Google on MMS scandals and you will realize that so many girls have been victims of this technology. Unfortunately, in several reported cases, the MMS clips were distributed by the boyfriends themselves.I'd like to add something more about this story… The sequence, however, is not meant to be seen as individual scene because it's an integral part of the story. The nudity is not aimed to titillate, but repel you. The scene is so stark and shot so pragmatically that at the end of the story, you start feeling distressed.
The third story -- a sting operation -- mirrors an actuality, yet again. You can't deny that the casting couch exists and people do resort to shortcuts to attain name, fame and money overnight. The sequence involving the Hip Hop pop star and the wannabe actress seems straight out of life. Also, we get a glimpse of how we consume news these days and journalists are forced to cover entertainment, instead of facts.
Director Dibakar Banerjee has a unique sensibility and a keen eye for the unconventional. His choice of subject and decision to shoot the film on a digital format needs to be lauded and also the intertwining of the three stories. Love Sex Aur Dhokha is sure to shake you. It's provocative and steamy, but it's scandalous and startling as well.There's just one song in the narrative -- the title track -- which is already popular thanks to its catchy tune and filming. The DoP [Nikos Andritsakis] does a splendid job. Seems like the film has been shot on a handycam, security cameras placed in shops, underwater cameras and spy cameras, which is, again, very innovative. Editing [Namrata Rao] is perfect.There was a need for fresh faces in order to portray the realism and the performances of each and every member of the cast are superb. Anshuman Jha [as Rahul], Shruti [as Shruti], Raj Kumar Yadav [as Adarsh], Neha Chauhan [as Rashmi], Amit Sial [as Prabhat], Arya Devdutta [as Naina] and Herry Tangri [as Loki Local] are amazing actors all.
On the whole, Love Sex Aur Dhokha is original, innovative and ground-breaking cinema, which will shock and provoke you. The film is definitely not for the faint-hearted or those who swear by stereotypical fares, but for those who yearn for a change. The youth, especially in metros, should fall hook, line and sinker for this one. The volatile title as also the explosive content should make this low-cost film [budgeted at approx. Rs. 1.5 cr.] a commercial accomplishment!

Shaapit Bollywood Movie Review: After Raaz, 1920 and Raaz 2, producer-director Vikram Bhatt is back with another horror flick, titled ‘Shaapit’. The movie marks the debut of Aditya Narayan, son of noted playback singer Udit Narayan, and Shweta Agarwal, as lead characters. The music for the movie has been provided by Vikram Bhatt’s cousin, Chirantan Bhatt, who promises to impress the audiences with some fresh melodious tunes, while the lyrics have been penned down by Sameer. The movie is set to release on March 19, 2010.
The story of ‘Shaapit’ revolves around a young girl, Kaaya (Shweta Agarwal), who has been trapped in a generational curse that makes her family’s life miserable and distressful. Kaya is in love with Aman (Aditya Narayan) and the two get engaged. However, soon after they exchange rings, the young couple meets with an accident, as their car spins and bounces off the road. As soon as Kaaya’s parents hear the news, they rush to her side. This is when her father discloses the curse that was incurred on their family as many as 300 hundred years back, by an angry Brahmin. According to the curse that has been plaguing Kaaya’s family from generations, any girl born therein will never be able to get married. And if she tries to do so, dangers will follow her on every step. Though Aman and Kaaya do not believe this initially, the constant accidents leave them with no other option, but to accept it as the truth. However, they love each other immensely and cannot let go so easily. So, Aman meets the master of the ways of the spiritual world, Pashupathi and learns about the evil spirit who is always at duty to pass on the curse down to each generation.
Shaapit MovieAman seeks Pashupathi’s help in destroying the spirit and getting rid of the curse. The latter tells him that though there is a way to take over the spirit, it is not easy and the stakes will be too high. Aman decides to go ahead and soon, there is a war between man and the devil. Will Aman be able to win the eternal fight with the evil? Will he be able to get Kaaya’s family out of the dreadful generational curse? Its tough calling this offering by Tips music a ‘mixed bag‘. To qualify for that tag, there perhaps needs to be more than one good song. Doesn’t seem so here.
Sachin Gupta’s title track has promise. Incorporated into the lead song, the title track has really helped add pluck to the opening song in the 16-track album.
But other than that Sachin Gupta’s music is uninspiring, despite having a wide range of singers pitching in. Sameer’s lyrics are jaded. For the producer’s sake, let us hope that the album is not a true representation of the movie.
O Mere Khuda: The album leads with this song. And without a doubt it’s the best of the lot. After a lead-in to this foot-tapping song by Garima Jhingon, Atif Aslam takes over the song. Refreshingly upbeat, the song lives up to its notch in the album, although Atif sounds a bit jaded and overpowered by the accompanying music. The drums and a very tearing (Mission Impossible) kind of rhythm — which is incidentally also the instrumental title track, does well to pack in the punch.
Tere liye: Shreya Goshal has really been wasted with such elan by Sachin Gupta. One of the more enlivening contemporary singers, Shreya’s voice has been reduced to near pedestrianism with completely unnecessary electronical modulation.
Kaun hoon main: Atif, who has in the past been so successful in bridging together sufiana-romanticism and immensely popularizing such songs, does badly in this one. ‘Kaun hoon main’ can easily be slotted as one of those ’wannabe sufi’ tracks. It simply does not have enough soul to qualify for a sufi song. And music… the free flowing music which is often the hallmark of great sufi songs, simply does not alleviate enough.
Aa bhi ja sanam: Another song with potential, laid waste. In the beginning Aa bhi ja sanam seems like one of those songs which Atif Aslam simply cannot get wrong. It is tailor made for him. The pathos, a lover’s wailful-wish, which the singer has so popularly rendered in the past. However Sachin Gupta’s music is weak and the lyrics weaker… Here’s a couple of lines… ‘Baahon mein chehra hoga… chehre pe pehra hoga‘. Makes sense?
Jiyara Jiyara: Cheesy… Purely and positively cheesy. Sounds like a bad song plucked from the early nineties and rammed down the ear drums of 21st century listeners. Alisha Chinai and Hard Kaur do not pass muster.
Ishq mein: The last straight song before the remixes slip in. Ishq mein makes perfectly sense as the last song in an otherwise so-so album. Very unoriginal, very unimpressive. Unless this song is picturised in a B-grade dance bar sequence, it might not pass muster with the audience.

Dayal Padmanabhan’s “Sree Harikathe” is a neatly narrated film but its main drawback is its uneven pace. The movie drags at many places. But despite having a cliched plot, it does have its enjoyable moments though the slow pace does test the viewers’ often.The film is essentially a sensible one but it just could have been made better with a little bit of fine-tuning. You are sure to appreciate the performances of all the leading artists, especially Naveen Krishna’s.
“Sree Hari Kathe” is about the fidelity of married men in challenging times and how unwarranted situations lead to multiple complications. The subject is not fresh, but Dayal Padmanabhan has tried to look at the theme with a clear perspective and has come out with a fun-filled narrative. Even the comedy sequences don’t look cheap and are handled well.Dayal has also picturised the songs stylishly. Both Murali and Pooja look aesthetic even in sizzling numbers.
Despite these finer points, “Sree Hari Kathe” suffers because of its slow narrative. In the film, Hari Krishna is an executive who marries a studious girl Prakruthi. Even after their marriage, Prakruthi wants six months time to complete her studies before consummating her marriage. Hari agrees and remains faithful to her wife despite getting adverse suggestions from his womaniser friend Raam.
But trouble starts when Prakruthi seeks some more time and even refuses Hari’s offer to go to Singapore. A frustrated Hari seeks Raam’s advice and the latter agrees to introduce his friend to a girl.Then enters Pooja.
And then the dilemma and confusion starts. Watch the film to know how the marital drama ends.Actor Sree Murali has moved out from his regular action-oriented roles and has given a refined performance in the film. But it is Naveen Krishna who is the pick of the lot in “Sree Hari Kathe”. His dialogues are sure to make you laugh.
Among the Gandhi sisters, the younger Radhika is really a revelation. She has come out with a fine performance, the best of her career till date. Pooja carries off her role well and looks like a stunning diva. The other artists play their roles perfectly as well.Debutant Sameer Kulkarni’s music is really good and the background music suits the film’s mood. Prasanna’s dialogues have the right punch and the visuals add to the movie’s strength. “Sree Hari Kathe” is more than a time-pass film but could have been even better with a little more comedy.

The Story : Kausthubham movie is all about Yamuna (Karthika) hasn’t had an easy life what with her husband (Vijayaraghavan), falsely implicated for murder spends his life in jail. Her woes are multiplied when her five year old son disappears during the temple festival. Needless to say, Yamuna, a staunch devotee of Lord Krishna, spends her days praying to him, with the hope that the Lord will return her lost son to him some day.
No prizes for guessing that the Lord does interfere. It’s here that Kausthubham becomes a Nandanam set up in a Kaakothi Kaavu. .
First things first. I feel like just having emerged out of a cave. I am not sure precisely what has brought about this strange sensation in me, but I have a suspicion it might have something to do with a film that I got to see last night.
Kausthubham belongs to another century. Yamuna (Karthika) hasn’t had an easy life what with her husband (Vijayaraghavan), falsely implicated for murder spending his life in jail. Needless to say, Yamuna, a staunch devotee of Lord Krishna, spends her days praying to him, with the hope that the Lord will return her lost son to her some day.

So we have the Lord performing his miracles and the devotees gaping in amazement. There are quite a few things that the Lord has to set right here and he goes about his job with the meticulousness that you expect of the Lord.
There used to be this genre of films in the 80’s that revolved around Gods and Goddesses and if I remember right with Shalini who was a baby then, doing the lead role. The flood of such films came to a stop soon, and filmmakers left the Gods at peace for a while. It seems now that they are back with a vengeance.
The supporting cast in Kausthubham consists of a variety of actors, but there’s sadly just one that catches our attention. Byju as the singer Jose with a constant craving for singing asong before the Lord is hilarious. There is no end to the agony that he goes through, for he is repeatedly denied an opportunity to sing thesong, since he belongs to another religion. It’s a side splitting act that the actor comes up with here.
I suspect even the staunchest of believers would identify with the story being told. The drama is a bit too overwhelming that very little of what is being told actually leaves a mark.
Kausthubham very rarely rises above the status of a mediocre faith installer, and is quite often dull and drab with a serious lack of imagination running through.

Movie Review Swaha directed by Manoj Sharma is nothing but a waste of movie reels. The story shows Jayant Oberoi (Jiten Mukhi) who never goes by logic. He blindly follows whatever his guruji tells him to do. The guruji happens to be his philosopher and guide in life. He keeps a portrait of his guru in his office, in the house, in the car and worst, he wears a pendant with his guruji’s profile engraved on it.
India is a country where such instances are normal in the rural belts, but Jayant Oberoi is an exception. Swaha tries to put an end to this blind faith. It tries hard, but doesn’t succeed.
So what the film does is, it introduces Raj (Rikki), as the son of Mr Oberoi who tries his best to bring his dad to his senses and prove what a fraud guruji is. But looking at Raj hardly makes you feel he has a mission in life.
After dancing amidst half-naked girls in a pub, Raj comes outside and calls his father that he will be late as there is a long queue in the temple. The driver gives the convincing sound effect by ringing the little bell, his rescue tool, which he always carries with him. Very much convincing.
So who are the followers of guruji? Builders, actors, politicians and industrialists.
Rikki has a Canadian girlfriend and he starts dancing with her whenever the filmmaker is confused what to show next. The blind faith of Jayant Oberoi turns into a cruel reality for him. The ghosts enter and it is not clear why they make everybody’s life a living hell. Don’t even bother to find that.
Make sure you carry a painkiller if you want to watch it. Better, avoid.

The Film Akasharamanna actually means a person who writes anonymous letters. But, the film Akasharamanna has nothing to do with the meaning of its title. It is film that is conceived well but poorly delivered.
Full Movie Review Teja (Rajeev Kanakala) is a conman and seduces Isha (Gouri Pandit) to elope with him. Isha wants rupees ten lakhs so that she can happily settle with Teja. She contacts her ex-boy friends Raana (Allari Naresh) and Jai (Shivaji) and asks them to give rupees five lakh each. Jai steals the money from a mall and hands it to Isha. Meanwhile Raana also wants to steal rupees five lakh from the same mall where his friend Tara (Meera Jasmine). Then a drunken Teja is involved in a fatal accident. Police officer Imtiaz Ali (Rao Ramesh) enters the scene. What happens from then on is the rest of the story.Rajeev Kanakala, Allari Naresh and Shivaji just go through their motions. Rao Ramesh is convincing as the cop. Gouri Pandit and Meera Jasmine appear to be just glamour quotient. All others are just so so.
The Techniques It is a good plot but bad screenplay mars the narration. A thriller or crime-buster film should have sufficient quantum of suspense without weakening the narration pace. Akasharamanna lacks both presentation and skillful narration. The characters are poorly etched and the incidents concocted and thusthe film loses credibility. Technically, the film is average.
The Verdict To make a film only good intentions and resources are not enough. A good film maker must have very good story telling techniques. Now that the winter is gone and the barometer already shooting up and if you want to sit for a couple of hours in an air-conditioned theatre, then you can buy a ticket for Akasharamanna.

Sri Hari’s latest film ‘Dasanna’ is an outdated film both conceptually and also technically. Directed by DSP, the film has been produced by Natti Kumar. The film also stars Meena, Raghuvaran and Suman in important roles. ‘Dasanna’ narrates the story of a Zamindar and his trusted henchman, Das who would even give his life for his master.
What is it about : Raghuvaran stars as the Zamindar of a village, who’s evil at heart and has a voracious sexual appetite. Das (Sri Hari) is one of his henchmen and Das grows up to be a strong and most trusted henchman in his house. Das is good at heart and believes that his master is God and can do no wrong. Elsewhere, Meena who hails from different village is in her prime and her brother Suman begins searching for a suitable groom. In an interesting twist to the tale, Meena’s brother proposes a marriage between Meena and Sri Hari without Sri Hari’s knowledge; from that moment onwards Meena dreams about Sri Hari. One day, during a village carnival, Raghuvaran happens to see Meena and immediately decides to bed her. Will Sri Hari come to Meena’s rescue? How does Raghuvaran handle this whole issue? This forms the rest of the story.
What is Good: The story of the film especially the dilemma of the heroine whether to marry the man of her dreams or a rich but old man is well written. Besides this, the motive behind the deeds which the characters enact is well conceived. The lead actors inthe film especially Raghuvaran, Sri Hari and Meena deliver credible performances in the second half of the film.
What is Bad: The dialogues in the film, especially those featuring Posani Krishna Murali, are unintentionally funny and some even make us cringe. ‘Dasanna’ is also a film where the actors and actresses aren’t handled as per the script which results in too much of hamming. The first half ofthe film just falls apart quite literally and the scenes between Meena and her family are baffling to even imagine. The film’s technically from a bygone era and almost everything in the film gives the impression that it’s a TV serial made with the budget of a feature film.

Movie Review:Prem (Shashank) is in college. He becomes friendly with Pavithra (Vidisha) who sis also studying in the same college. They become good friends and the hero teaches the heroine computers. The heroine come from a rich family and naturally has all the qualities of a spoilt rich girl. Her father and mother are socialites and spend all their time either at business or kitty parties and other activities. The hero mistakes the heroine’s friendship as love only to be rebuked. However as fate would have it, they succumb to temptation and unite on a rainy night. The heroine becomes pregnant and without heeding the hero’s pleadings aborts the fetus. This anger Prem and he leaves her. Prem becomes a successful businessman. A journalist who is doing an assignment on lovers meets Prem and learns about his story. The journalist also meets Pavithra and comes to know that they both were the lovers she came to know through her assignment. Pavithra’s efforts to meet Prem fail. Prem meanwhile decides to hire a womb so that he can become a father and also please his mother. He becomes the father of a baby boy. The hero later realizes that the woman who gave her womb on hire and bore her child is none other than Pavithra. She has done this to atone for her sin in aborting the fetus earlier. With the misunderstandings gone, the film ends on a happy note.
